A Munka-Kör Alapítvány a Hallássérültekért támogató webshopja

We would like to present a special webshop created by hearing and mobility impaired people. These individuals are responsible not only for the operation of the webshop, but also for the handling  of the logistics of the products.

The project is organized by the Munka-Kör Foundation for the Hearing Impaired, which has been helping hearing-impaired and other disabled people for 20 years, primarily with labor market counseling and rehabilitation as well as labor market opportunity development.

This online store is part of this effort: employees working at the foundation can learn about the creation and operation of homepages as well as of online webshops along with for sale product design.  Logistic actions such as production, delivery and sales workflows of the webshop come into view which would be unavailable for any disabled person in the competitive sphere of a fast-fluctuating marketplace. .

The creative work is managed by a hearing-impaired colleague of ours who graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts. The raw material of our products is mainly old newspaper, which we roll into sticks by hand, then build the desired shape, after that which we professionally paint the final product.

We work with two types of techniques. In one case, the sticks are flattened, and then the object is rolled up or braided. In the other case, we use the traditional paper spinning technique.

When an object is finalized, it is treated with lacquer paint, which allows the product to last longer. This will make our products water- and drop-resistant to a certain extent. We decorate with other decoupage techniques or make it more colorful with acrylic paint.

We wish you pleasant browsing and shopping!
